BEAN TOWN

Hey Everybody!
I haven't been here for a while! BUT, I have been reading your posts and looking at all of the wonderful pictures (mainly I have been looking at the two most adorable little girls ever!).
I thought I would give yuo all a bit of an update of what is going on in my life! Things have definitely changed...
After a wonderful time in Romania going on the senior trip to the black sea and hanging out with friends and family and turning 18! I headed back to Kansas City to work. One day, out of the blue, I received a phone call from my oldest sister, Casey, asking me if I was interested in a job. As my job in Kansas City fell through and I needed and job and money fast, I accepted. After formally applying for the job and what not, I became the Study Coordinator for the STAR-ICU study at Beth Israel Deaconess medical Center. The study is to see how hand hygene can reduce the number of patients who become infected with MRSA and VRE while in the hospital.
I go to two Critical Care Units everyday and register any new patients into the study. Then, I go around and ask nurses to collect Nasal and Perianal swabs from their patients (lovely I know). At then end of the day I label and mail the swabs and complete worksheets about the patients medical history etc. Not the ideal job ESPECIALLY for some one who hates hospitals and things of grotesque nature, but the money is good and I get to work in the same place as my sis! Not to mention, I get to wear a white coat! one thing I don't like is that on my ID next to my picture and name it says "Infectious Diseases" I feel like it is calling me a disease. Also, nurses don't exactly like to collect swabs (who would?) and give me lots of attitude. It is not uncommon for me to be called "Swab Woman" or "Swab Girl". One nurse said "Oh every time I see your face I remember the swabs!" Never did I dream that my face would remind people of perianal swabs, but I guess thats ok.....
Anyway, I love Boston other than the fact that it is EXPENSIVE and I have many run ins with crazy people on the subway..
.OH exciting news about my college! I found out I have two roommates! One is Sydney Harris from New jersey and the other is molly Arkin from Seattle! They both sound really nice and I can not wait to meet them in person!
Well, I love all of you! And even though I am horrible at keeping in touch, I think about all of you so much! I wish Olivia good luck with her soccer! I wish Jereme good luck with his job and Band! I wish Josh good luck with his cooking career and Cadets and Football! I love you all!
