News from Across a Couple Ponds......

You can figure out which ponds I am talking about I'm sure.....ha!
How is everyone?
Our news is mostly Shannon's news. We've been talking A LOT lately!
The first day she called she was very happy and excited about being at the camp in Albania. She met a lot of people and really likes the people she has met.
The next day we heard about the pitfalls of being there, but she is still happy to be there and is really interested in her job and feels the people are very professional there. Her room is tiny...her bathroom is bigger than her living quarters. The food is LOUSY!!!! The first meal there she had spaghetti. She said she looked around for some sauce, but there wasn't any! She also had bread and a broth type soup. Sounds kind of like the military! And the meals haven't got any better.
One day she drove with some others to the camp on the other side of the tunnel where someone gave a talk on ethics. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive each way! She was a little queasy from the ride. It was very rough...no roads really yet. They are building a big tunnel and there is a man camp on either side. They came home and looked at the meal and decided to walk down the road about a mile to a Kosovian Restaurant.....which was closed when they got there...went back to camp and had some cheese and crackers for dinner and one girl gave her a yogurt.
Friday, she was in an accident. Mike called me ( I was on a pottery shopping trip with the ladies in Corund) and said, "first of all, Shannon is fine." She was driving with the SAFETY manager and there was a cut in the road that wasn't marked right in front of them. They went over the cliff, the rear end bounced on the road and flipped them right over on the roof. They had their hardhats on still which was good because the whole top of the SUV was crushed. No injuries. She sent some pictures which I can't figure out how to save, so I will email them. Oh my! There were 3 in the truck and Shannon was in the backseat behind the driver. They were hanging upside down in their seatbelts. Praise God no one was hurt! Mike says she's only been on the job 3 days and she already has a war story under her belt.....
She is looking forward to tomorrow when Ramaddan ( a Muslim holiday) starts. She is off and going to a turistic town she couldn't remember the name of with some friendly Albanian workers she met.
That's all for tonight...it's late...must get to bed!
Love to all
Jan
