Memorial Day

Hello Family! The Rettele's camped out at our pond Saturday and Sunday nights. Yes, it rained on us! The road and campsite was muddy, but we all survived. And now the pond is equipped with a nice little shelter! Dennis and Ben set the posts last weekend, and with everybody's help this weekend we got it done! They used old rafters from a utility room that Elton and Theresa had enclosed on their house years ago and Ben salvaged for a project just like this. Ron located the electric line that had gone to the well, so the shelter even has plugins and lights! Ron also had some tin for the roof and it turned out just perfect! Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it! You'll have to come see it!

Deb's husband Gene had fun catching catfish out of the muddy pond! He dressed fourteen, I think! We fished there and at a nearby pond for some bass!

Regina and family were up, but their tent leaked and they ended up going to Topeka yesterday evening and headed home around noon today. We brought their tent home and hung it on the clothesline to dry this afternoon, and I found this cat tangled in the strings - trying to play, I think, but ended up getting them wrapped around both legs and when he tried to get away from it, it kept cinching tighter and tighter. He was going ballistic and didn't want me to help him out of it, poor thing. But I got him out, and stuck to me like glue the rest of the day.

He helped me clean out the camper!

And slept on the damp bedding!

This is a picture taken through my dining room window this evening! I had intended on photographing the 'rose-breasted grosbeak' that was hanging around the feeder, but he flew off as this 'indigo bunting' flew in to dine with the finches.
If you look closely you'll see him! He's a pretty blue!

Anyway, not much more news from here! Just wanted to say hello and wish you all well!

We are so happy for Shannon and Jeroen's engagement! Can't wait to hear their plans!

Love to all of you, and hope to see you soon!

Barb
