Well, another week has gone by already! We've enjoyed having Megan here this week and also her friend Ana joined us for a few days! Some of Mike's younger staff are taking them out to dinner tomorrow night. They told the girls, " we are young too!".
Our highlight of the week was our drive to Oradea on Sunday through the Transylvania Alps! It was just gorgeous. Lots of sheeps, villages with flowers and gardens, lots of haystacks which they make with a tripod of big sticks and pile the swathed grass on. We saw stork nests on telephone poles with mothers standing...babies heads bobbing up and down and even some young ones standing on the nests. There are thermal hot springs around the area and a resort area in Baile Felix. When we came home, the girls had made Mike a Father's Day cake!
The good news on the job is that they started the dirt work yesterday at 1 o'clock! (Then they had to quit after an hour or so because of the rain!!!) The ground is terrible gucky clay so it really gets bogged up when wet! They had some excitement a couple days ago when they were moving equipment out to the site....they were going through a village with a loader of some type...arm up in the air. One man was lifting electrical cables with a stick so the truck could drive under.....the last one the truck drive didn't understand the man said Stop! and the wires arced! He was ok, but it killed the electricity to a chicken operation (3000 chickens) and the air conditioning stopped ....killed 200 chickens because of the heat....Mike had to do some reprimanding yesterday, big safety meeting,,,,,took a check to the chicken owner.....As you can see he has his hands full!!!!
