Well, we made it to Omaha. It was a long and tedious experience, but we're finally getting settled. We arranged to close on the house here on Thursday afternoon so Joel and I stayed in a hotel, left the girls with Grandma and Grandpa and got ready to move. Then, Thursday morning, we got a call that we wouldn't be able to close until Friday because of some problems our bank was having with their computers. Needless to say we were disappointed. That meant another day of homelessness as well as no babysitter or moving help for Friday. Mom was working on Friday and Dad had hay down to take care of...
So... We called on Shannon to help. She came to the rescue!!! She watched the girls while we closed then helped us in the afternoon to unload our truck. We couldn't have done it without her!!!!! She was a moving machine! Olivia loves her to pieces and they played "secret party" as much as they could. We ended up signing our paperwork on Friday around 11 and started unloading around 2:30 or so. It took about 3 hours to get the whole 26 foot truck emptied out.
We got about 3/4 of the way into unloading the truck and we found one of Mom and Dad's cats inside. It was a wild tomcat that got inside when Joel loaded the bikes at Mom and Dad's on Thursday. We didn't know it was there and were pretty surprised to find it. The cat was scared to death of us and when we moved the last of the furniture, it bolted out the truck and we couldn't catch it. So, I guess it is trying to make it on it's own in the neighborhood or area around the lake.
We have unpacked most of our boxes. Mom and Dad came up Saturday morning and Joel's mom and sister were here, too. We enjoyed the company and help!!! As far as the house goes, we are planning on painting the kitchen and the girls' rooms and will take our time getting everything else how we want it. We did buy a big red couch at Nebraska Furniture Mart. It was delivered Saturday afternoon. It's pretty comfortable. I took a nap on it last night and this afternoon, too!!
This blog is way too long and I know I'm rambling, but I wanted to fill everyone in on what's been going on. Hope all is well with you!
I will post pictures when I have the energy!!!
Love,
Regina and the Omaha gang
