Hi all, just a quick note to say hi to everyone. We are super busy here. My school started the 23rd with kids, but I was in meetings from the 9th to the 22nd. Now, we're having meetings after school 2 or 3 times a week. There are only so many meetings a person can take!! It's getting to the point where I show up but don't absorb much. As I have heard people say, my cognitive desk space is full. Really full. But despite a few minor glitches with my students, things are going pretty well. I have 6 classes, split over 2 days. Our class periods are about 82 minutes each. We have an awesome amount of resources for the kids to use in the way of technology so that is fun to be a part of. We just got done doing a lab with our school iPods. I was able to give instructions by way of voice memo on the iPod then turn the kids loose. That really saved my voice. It's fun to learn new ways to present material to the kids.
Joel is busy, as well. His teachers reported Monday so he has been in meetings nonstop this week. The headmaster of their school lost her mother on Monday so things have been a bit on the crazy side there without her around to run things. He is excited but nervous for the start of school.
We had an open house tonight at Brownell where we got to meet Olivia's teacher, drop off her supplies, and meet some classmates. Her teacher is Mrs. Davis. She is grandmotherly and gives the greatest hugs. I think Olivia will do great. The kids have their own lockers so they each got to make a locker decoration tonight while we were there. Olivia had her first soccer game on Saturday. I forgot my camera but promise I will take pictures next time!! Her team did great. She scored a goal and we cheered and cheered. Mom and Dad drove up for the day and got to go to the game with us. Technically, we weren't supposed to keep score, but in my head I can say for sure that we won! I know that's terrible, but it's hard not to be competitive!!!
Delaney is a wild monkey. I can't say more than that. She is climbing on everything, being a daredevil at all times and is utterly impossible to corral. But she smiles a big cheesy grin most of the time and you can't help but love her. She climbs up onto the couch then stands up and waits for us to react. Then she grins and flops herself down, only to do it again, over and over and over. She has been at the babysitter 2 weeks and is doing great. She loves the other kids and doesn't want to come home in the afternoon, especially when they are playing outside.
I am making a wedding cake for my cousin Joe's wedding this weekend. He is marrying the older sister of one of my classmates from HS in Sabetha. I'm excited to be decorating again!!
Love you all, this ended up being longer than I expected. Talk to you soon!

It was so good to hear from you! Your job sounds wonderful and exciting using some new methods and I imagine your students may be more motivated at this school than the past one! Hopefully!
The girls sound like they are doing so well and are happy and healthy. Just reading about them makes my day.
What about your cat.? Did she make the move adjustment ok?
It's great that your mom and dad can pop up and take in the games and family in a couple of hours!
Hope you and Joel have a rewarding school year.

Yes, Sophie made the trip and is doing great. She loves to be outside. The other day I watched her out the window and she followed a family that was taking a walk. She acts more like a dog than a cat!!! But she is part of the family now. Ttyl.
